**Surface Area of a Hemisphere** is the measure of how much exposed area a hemisphere has.
Surface Area of a hemisphere is expressed in square units.

The Surface area of a hemisphere of radius *r* is given by 2π*r*^{2}

The area of the exposed portions of a Hemisphere is called as surface area of a Hemisphere. The surface area of a hemisphere is given by the following formula,

Surface Area of a Hemisphere = 2π*r*^{2}

The curved surface area of a hemisphere is given as follows,

Curved Surface Area of a Hemisphere = 2`Pi` r^{2}

The total surface area of a hemisphere is given as follows,

Total Surface Area of a Hemisphere = 3`Pi` r^{2}

**Example 1:**

Find the radius of a hemisphere where the total surface area is 1846.32 cm^{2}

**Solution:**

The total surface area of the hemisphere = 1846.32 cm^{2}

we know, total surface area of a hemisphere is given by 3 Π r^{2} square units.

Therefore,

3 Π r^{2 } = ^{ }1846.32 cm^{2
}3 * 3.14 *
r^{2 }=^{ }1846.32 cm^{2}

9.42 *
r^{2 }= 1846.32

r^{2 }= 1814.92 / 9.42

r^{2} = 192.67

Find the total surface area of the hemisphere which is of radius equal to 11 cm.

**Solution:**

The radius of the hemisphere, r = 11 cm.

We know, total surface area of a hemisphere is given by 3`Pi` r^{2} square units.

Therefore,

Total Surface Area = 3 * 3.14 * 11^{2}

= 3 * 3.14 * 11 * 11

Total Surface Area = 1139.82 cm^{2}
